This is a very effective teaching resource. It can
be used as follows:
- With 15 / 16 year olds preparing
for exams: across a wide range of abilities.
(There is something for everybody.)
- With 17 year olds who need a
quick revision of main grammatical points before
taking higher exams.
- By the French Assistant teacher
who can go through the exercises and sketches, focusing
on pronunciation.
- By supply teachers.
- By students who have missed lessons.
- Staff can record plays and sketches
which can then serve as a listening exercise.
The booklets
The booklets should be used in order
because each successive booklet uses vocabulary from
previous ones but some exercises can by done anytime.
Built in revision program
The work booklets contain a variety
of exercises, engaging sketches and short stories.
These are used as a means of revision of vocabulary
and constructions from previous booklets. Thus there
is a thread of continuity throughout the course.
Illustrating the Text
All booklets contain activities
and exercises. Some exercises involve illustrating
a story or play. The idea is that the student has
to read and understand before drawing. Then their
picture can be used a s a prompt to use the vocabulary
and phrases used in the text as they talk about the
picture.
